The Lunch Box @ Sound Transit

Break away from your desk to visit an amazing studio and listen to local design leaders present original perspectives that will inspire, shift or interrupt your relationship with the design space. September's Lunch Box will be hosted by Sound Transit.

Creativity is in the house
Designing for one brand, managing multiple projects, tight budgets, and complying with a plethora of processes and procedures can be creativity crushers for in-house creative teams. Come learn how
Sound Transit’s Design and Video in-house teams overcome these challenges and how we use our creative super powers to maintain our creative buzz.

Presentation includes a 360° sneak peek virtual tour of our University Link light rail project. This virtual tour will take you below ground to see Capitol Hill Station and University of Washington Station (open for service in 2016). Both stations are architectural and design marvels, featuring significant works of public art that mold with the station design to create truly extraordinary spaces.

Presenters

Elizabeth Trunkey, Design Manager

A passion for designing for good attracted Elizabeth to Sound Transit 15 years ago. Elizabeth is a proud NW native and Husky whose focus is shaping the brand experience and vision for an agency that delivers services that improve the quality of life for the Puget Sound region. Elizabeth leads an in-house team of talented graphic designers who consistently deliver award-winning communications. Elizabeth and her team leverage the power of outstanding design to connect people with transit.

Every day, thousands of people see Elizabeth’s work – station/wayfinding signage, social media and rider information. Next time you ride Link light rail, look for her friendly hedgehog reminding you not to be a seat hog and to make room for fellow riders.

Andrea Stuart-Lehalle, Video Production Supervisor

Andrea Stuart-Lehalle has blazed a unique trail to become a specialist in creative digital video content. After graduating NYU film in 2000, she left New York for Prague to continue shooting film, but soon embraced video as her new tool of choice for using imagery to communicate. In 2004 she moved to Paris, France, to help a colleague get his Video Production and Creative Agency off the ground. As Creative Director for 9 years, she lead teams to produce commercials and brand-centered digital content for fashion and fragrance names like L'OREAL group, LVMH group, Van Cleef & Arpels, PUIG and COTY, and smaller independent technology and design firms. In parallel, she stayed active as a short film, experimental and music video director, showing her work in film festivals around the world. Marrying message with powerful imagery to tell a story is her passion. She joined Sound Transit this spring to put that passion toward something that mattered more to her than make-up and sweet perfume.
