AIGA Seattle – Community Town Hall

They say the only constant is change. Our creative community in Seattle has undergone a tremendous amount of growth and implosion. Our once burgeoning boutique agency scene is facing turbulent times while large corporations build out internal agencies and are providing amazing opportunities for salary increases, mentorship, and professional development. We have 50 new people moving to Seattle every day and thousands of available design, copywriting, ux and dev positions.

AIGA is the oldest professional design association. Our org heralds from a time when designers handset their type, built their own background textures and physically pasted up pages before they went to press. Our national organization has modernized as they span what design means across the United States.

As the Seattle Chapter of AIGA we find ourselves in a moment that seems to be the right time to redefine who we are to the community. We’ve served Seattle for over 30 years and have a history of organizing certain types of events. Maybe you came to know AIGA Seattle through our Changemaker Series, our Schmooze networking events, Into the Woods, Reality Check portfolio review, or our studio tours; do all these events make sense as the creative community in Seattle expands and the “design” discipline fragments again.

Let’s continue the conversation – how would you describe the creative community in Seattle? Who are we leaving out? How can we better serve you at various points in your Career?

If this discussion is interesting to you and you have ideas for how AIGA Seattle can better support you in your career, please join us at our Town Hall on November 6th at Artefact at 6pm. You’ll meet our board of directors and hear first-hand where our chapter is headed. Share an idea. Toss back a few. We’re looking forward to meeting you!
