Lunch Box @ Deloitte Digital

Break away from your desk to visit an amazing company and listen to local design leaders present original perspectives that will inspire, shift, or interrupt your relationship with the design space. Bring your sack lunch—or order one with your ticket—and join us on Tuesday, April 25th at Deloitte Digital.

THE CONSULTANTS ARE COMING.

They have names that sound vaguely familiar, like Deloitte Digital, IBM iX, and Accenture Interactive’s design group Fjord. You might have read about them in unlikely places however like Adweek, Digiday, or Forbes. You might have encountered them online, in your work, or even during a pitch, these “digital consultancies.” If you have—or even if this is the first you’re hearing of them—you probably have questions. The first one is probably some form of “what is a creative digital consultant?” Follow up question may include things like: “What do consultants have to do with design and marketing?” “How are these places different from traditional agencies or start-ups?” “How are they the same?” If you have ever asked yourself any of these questions, then this panel discussion, hosted by Deloitte Digital, is the lunch meeting you don’t want to miss.  Find out just what a “Creative Digital Consultancy” actually is, and what it might mean for the industry as a whole.

Kaleeta McDade // Creative Director at Deloitte Digital

As a creative director Kaleeta McDade has been crafting beautiful immersive and engaging experiences for the last 15 years. She has worked with notable clients such as Wells Fargo, Apple, Google, MetLife, The Coca-Cola Company, and many more. She has delivered strategic work that has spanned numerous continents and has managed onshore, offshore, and integrated teams. Through thoughtfully crafted solutions she has curated lasting client relationship. Along with providing positive change to integral business processes

Julie Adams // Associate Creative Director at Deloitte Digital

Julie has over 12+ years of agency experience creating stunning interactive experiences for a variety of Fortune 500 clients. A newer transplant to the beautiful PNW, she hails from the windy city of Chicago where she built her expansive portfolio designing and directing responsive web experiences, 360 campaigns both online and off and shaping several social media communities.

Julie has lead thoughtful and creative initiatives for such prestigious clients as: Harley-Davidson, KitchenAid, Kraft, Diageo, SC Johnson, Procter & Gamble, Nintendo, Hallmark, Quaker and Kellogg’s. She has a wide experience working within traditional and nontraditional advertising alike. Her work is always structured in deep strategic findings, while always pushing for design excellence.

Besides winning two Ivy King Cup Roller Derby Championships with The Windy City Rollers, Julie also has a BFA in Media Studies and Design from Columbus College of Art and Design. She keeps her non-digital chops sharp by dividing her free time between making one of kind jewelry for her own jewelry company and co-leading the Rainier Raves, a 50+ all female motorcycle riding club in Seattle.

Sam Caplan // Associate Creative Director at Deloitte Digital

Sam Caplan has over eleven years’ experience building strong brands and distinctive interactive experiences through comprehensive strategy and thoughtful design.

Graduating with a degree in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis, her career began as an urban planner in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. After a year working with displaced residents in the Lower Ninth Ward, she moved to Seattle and pivoted to graphic design and publishing.  She now specializes in the strategy and tactics of branded digital projects. Working with a wide range of clients and customers, she regularly engages with the dozens of team members—from CIOs to junior developers—who, together, design and build enterprise-level and customer-facing interactive experiences.

Her work for clients that include Marvel, DC Comics, Universal Studios, Lucasfilm, Tom Douglass, Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Motown, Playboy, Pronto Cycle Share, Rockstar Games, Warner Bros, Barnes & Noble, and The Rockefeller Foundation has been featured on Awwwards.com, CSS Awards, TheDieline.com, LovelyPackage.com, OhBeautifulBeer.com, and The American Graphic Design Awards.

Adam Argyle // Senior Front End Engineer at Deloitte Digital

Adam is a Swiss army knife developer. He’s trained and efficient across a seriously wide array of technologies, languages, frameworks, and development approaches. He codes at work and at home, passionately gleaning and learning from the open source community. He stands on the shoulders of dev giants like Paul Irish, Chris Coyier, and Nicole Sullivan, who evangelize the web and best practices. Not only can he spin up NoSQL DB’s, hack on LAMP, NGINX, Node, and Python, but his UI and Front End development skills are at their peak performance.

He also has a designer past, creating games, sites, apps, and 3D worlds. This helps him be pixel perfect in creation of UI, because his eye notices and appreciates the subtleties of good design. Nothing seems impossible to this guy, he’s the office enabler for experimental ideas and sturdy web application engineering.

And if it isn’t obvious, Adam is a gamer, an RPG head to be exact, and spends his weekends exploring dungeons, slashing monsters, and saving the girl.
