I believe design should be more than visual. It’s a combination of strategy, a multidisciplinary approach, unconventional thinking, and experienced intuition — all combined to arrive at a crossroad of design goodness. I’ve been fortunate to lead design efforts at a wide range of agencies large and small, from my own studio, Grip Design, to well-known Seattle agencies like Methodologie and Wongdoody, to global network agencies such as Landor, Young & Rubicam, and my current gig as a VP creative director at Anthem Worldwide. Along the journey, I’ve amassed stories, design wins and recognition, as well as learnings through a number of accounts, including Microsoft, T-Mobile, Nintendo, Pfizer, Unilever, The Home Depot, and Newell-Rubbermaid. My skill set includes branding, packaging, retail design, as well as digital integration. My wish and constant effort is to connect all of those nodes to tell a bigger brand story. I’ve always treasured my efforts and participation with AIGA, and was very honored to be recognized as an AIGA Fellow by AIGA Seattle. I consider it as a major accomplishment in my design career.
